A woman will still notice a good looking man but once she starts to know the guy better, her superficial preference might not always play such an important role. She will start to look for other qualities of the guy (e.g. confidence, good character).
In terms of the physical appearance women prefer a masculine face with symmetry and a muscular body. Men also prefer women with a wide waist-to-hip ratio.
1. Eyes
Women often judge a man’s physical appearance first before they get to know him. But this doesn’t mean she doesn’t want to know his personality or whether they will get along well. Once she feels attracted to a guy for other reasons (e.g. he’s confident, has masculine body language, makes her laugh) she will start looking at his physical appearance in a more positive light.
According to science, the first thing that men notice about women is their eyes. But it’s not just the color of the eye that counts; they also appreciate women with expressive eyes and deep eyes. The same goes for the neck: a graceful, delicate neck is incredibly attractive to men.
2. Hair
Hair is not just a beautiful feature, but it also serves as a natural protection from UV rays. It is made up of tough proteins called keratin and is our first line of defense against the sun’s harmful rays.
According to a survey conducted by Men’s Fitness, women prefer to see men with chest and body hair. But that doesn’t mean they want their man to have a forest of hair. In fact, most of them prefer light stubble.
In the same survey, 24 per cent of women said a man’s chest is his most attractive feature, followed by hair and arms. But what really matters is how a man makes a woman feel emotionally. If he is confident, charismatic and charming, has a masculine vibe or can make her laugh, then she may start to find his physical appearance more attractive as well.
3. Body
Research suggests that when men look at a woman, their brain is performing a quick “reproductive fitness assessment.” They’re looking for indicators of fertility, like a lower waist-to-hip ratio.
Women who take care of their bodies and maintain a healthy weight find that they are more attractive to men than those who don’t. A flattering body posture and a healthy skin tone are also among the physical features that attract men.
However, it is important for women to remember that just because she finds a man physically attractive at first glance doesn’t mean that the initial attraction will last. A person’s personality and character are what really attract women, and can make them fall in love with a man despite his lack of model looks or a gym-perfect physique.
4. Legs
The legs of a man are an important part in his overall appearance. They should be slender, muscular and toned but not overly large or disproportionate to the rest of his body. The best way to achieve this is by regularly doing squats and deadlifts in the gym.
Men also tend to prefer women with a high waist-to-hip ratio which suggests that they subconsciously assess her for fertility. It is a long-held myth that men prefer big boobs but studies show that they are more interested in a narrow waist. Interestingly, they have also been shown to favour women with long arms.
5. Lips
Men were more honest than women in revealing their favourite part of a woman’s body, with the face coming in at number one for them followed by legs and then boobs. There’s nothing shameful about appreciating a woman’s breasts, we all have them after all!
Lips are unique in that they can actually be used to identify individuals, like fingerprints, because of their varying shape and size. The way lips are shaped, the color they are and even the little dip known as a cupid’s bow all reveal a lot about an individual’s personality.
For example, lips with a rounded cupid’s bow suggest someone who is very compassionate and caring of others. They’re likely to be a nurturer in relationships and often have trouble setting emotional boundaries.
